Small Sided Games
(Replacing Rooball)
When: Saturday afternoons 12pm until 1:30 pmU/7 12 noon (Players must be 6 or under on the 2nd of May)U/9 12:45pm (Players must be 8 or under on the 2nd of May) Where: Tension Woods College Registration Day: Saturday 2nd May U/7 players and parents need to turn up at 12 noon.U/9 players and parents need to turn up at 12:45.At 12:05 and 12:50 respectively, we will line all players up and divide them into teams of 5. They will then play a 20 minute half with Soccer Association volunteers controlling each game, while parents/ carers fill in registration forms. Once forms are filled in, parents will venture into the playing area and Association volunteers will ask one parent from each team to nominate as team supervisor (if you would like to do this but can’t be there every week, you can share this role with another person). This person will then be supported to referee the second half of the game. Games: Every Saturday in Term 2 (last game Saturday 27th June) Cost: Free Commitment needed: Once a player is registered they will need to turn up to play in the game each Saturday or let the team supervisors know that they can’t make it. We will need one parent volunteer per team, to be a team supervisor. For the first and second weeks we will have experienced Soccer people to explain the rules to team supervisors. From then on we will need these people to supervise the team and encourage players. What are small-sided games? They are soccer games with fewer players competing on a smaller-sized field for all children aged 8 and under. Guidelines: Under 9 & 10 Under 11 &12 Numbers: 5 on team No Goalkeepers Field Size: 30m x 20m Ball Size: Size 3 Playing Time: 2 x 20 minutes wirh Half Time Break of 5 minutes

Under 10 Competition 2009
Under 10 will be played on Sundays. When playing at a club with one pitch only, games will kick off at 8:10am. Games will be two 20 minutes halves with a 5 minute break. If games are to be held at Naracoorte they will start at 10:30am. The games will be guided by the Under 10 procedures outlined in the Small Sided Games Handbook, as encouraged by FIFA.
These guidelines include:
- 9 players per team on the field, including a goalie (some weeks we may have to play 7 on 7 or make up numbers from one side to boost the other)Play across the fieldGoals to be approximately 4.8m in width and can be marked with cones – if a goal is available, it is to be between 1.6 and 2m highSize 3 or 4 ball if availableInstructing referee (perhaps coach or U/17 from one club in first half and then from the other club in the second half)Coach may instruct on field
- Penalty area to be marked if possible but otherwise cones on the sides – 8m in length and 16 m wide
These games will not be for points, rather to give the players an opportunity to play and develop their skills.
